Children On Play Balls

Client Testimonial

"Alyssa is so great with [our son] and we know that she genuinely cares and wants to help! I feel so comfortable with her. She is so down to earth and really just a natural at what she does. Not all providers are like her so we’re going to do whatever we can to make sure we can continue. Thank you again for everything, Alyssa! We are already seeing improvements with [our son's] joint attention and trying to communicate. It means a lot to us!" -Current Client

Childhood Apraxia of Speech

Children with apraxia know what they want to say, but they find difficulty with coordinating the movements needed for speech. Using evidence-based motor planning approaches (including DTTC), I support children in building accurate, consistent speech through structured, supportive practice.

Language Delays & Disorders

Whether your child is a 'late talker,' school-age concepts/vocabulary, or struggles with understanding, I meet them where they are. Through play and connection, we expand their ability to understand and use words effectively that carryover into everyday life.

Social Communication

Some children need support with the how of communication - understanding social cues, taking turns in conversation, staying on topic, or building friendships. I provide explicit, supportive instruction to help children navigate social interactions with greater confidence and success.

School-Age & Older Children

I work with elementary through high school age children who need support with higher-level language skills, vocabulary, expressive language, written expression, and articulation concerns.

I can help your child in these areas

Unsure where to start?

I offer a free consultation and screenings to discuss your concerns, answer questions, and determine if an evaluation is the right next step for your child.

Communication is more than just words - it's connection, confidence, and being understood. I provide individualized, child-led therapy that meets your child where they are and helps them grow in meaningful, functional ways. I also combine my therapy with parent coaching to help with carryover. Serving families in Central MA, CT, and surrounding communities. Currently accepting MassHealth, BCBS, Aetna, and Mass General Brigham Health Plan.

Fluency (Stuttering)

Disfleuncy is more than just speech - it impacts confidence and communication experiences. I create a supportive, pressure-free environment where children learn strategies to increase ease of speech while also building confidence, self-advocacy, and positive communication attitudes.

Phonological Disorders

When sound patterns make a child difficult to understand, I used targeted, evidence-based approaches to help them learn and generalize clearer speech patterns - so they can be understood across settings.

Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)

For children who need additional support to communicate, I offer AAC evaluations, device setup, and ongoing therapy. I work closely with families to create systems that are functional, personalized, and empowering.

Parent Education

You are a key part of your child's progress. I prioritize ongoing communication and practical strategies so you feel confident helping your child outside of sessions.

"If I could give Alyssa 10 stars I would! She has only been working with my toddler for a couple of weeks, but I have already witnessed noticeable improvements in his communication and joint attention. She has given me helpful tools to implement at home and always follows through with what she says she’s going to do. Not only is Alyssa extremely kind, but she is knowledgeable, non judgmental, and absolutely wants to see her clients succeed. Her office is in her home and in turn it is such a comfortable, calm, and therapeutic environment. I am so happy that I found her and am so grateful for her making such a positive impact on my son. It is evident that she truly enjoys and takes pride in her work and her clients success." - Nicole H.

Speech-language pathologist opens new private practice for local families

The Sturbridge Villager | April 17, 2026

A new private speech therapy practice has opened in Sturbridge, offering services for children with a range of communication needs and providing families another option for evaluation and support. Read more below (page 9):

Speech Signs

  • Hard to understand when they speak
  • Leaves off sounds in words (e.g., 'bu' for 'bus')
  • Leaves off syllables in words (e.g. eh-phant for elephant)
  • Struggles to say certain words clearly
  • Difficulty being understood by unfamiliar or possibly familiar people
  • Getting "stuck" on sounds or repeating words/sounds

If any of these points sound familiar or something feels off, please don't hesitate to reach out. Early support can make a big difference. I'll help you figure out what's typical and whether support is needed - no pressure. No commitment, you can just ask questions, and I'll provide honest guidance - even if therapy isn't needed. I'll always provide honest guidance, including when therapy may not be necessary.

Not sure where to start? That's completely okay.

Most families I work with begin with a quick, no-pressure consultation. We'll talk through your concerns and figure out the best next step together. After you reach out, I'll personally respond within 24 business hours to learn more about your child and your concerns and guide you through next steps. We'll discuss costs, insurance, and I'll answer any questions you may have. You won't be left guessing.

You don't need to have it all figured out before reaching out. Currently accepting BCBS, MassHealth, Aetna, and Mass General Brigham Health Plan.

As a speech pathologist and mom myself, I understand how overwhelming it can feel to wonder if your child is "on track." Understanding common communication milestones is the first step toward finding the right support for their journey.

School Consultations

Individual consultations for parents seeking guidance regarding their child’s speech/language needs, IEP services, school supports, evaluations, accommodations, and communication development.

*Consultation services are informational and supportive in nature and do not replace school decision-making processes or legal advocacy services*

Screenings

Speech and language screenings are brief, informal assessments used to identify whether further evaluation or support may be beneficial. Screenings can help determine if concerns related to speech sounds, language development, social communication, fluency, or other communication skills warrant additional assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions

During our initial meeting, I'll get a clear picture of how your child is communicating, gather your communication goals and your child's communication needs. Measures may be formal or informal depending on the child's needs/abilities. We'll discuss pertinent history and perform specific evaluation(s) to create a plan just for your child (if needed). If your child has had speech and language evaluations in the past, we will look at those data and fill in any gaps as needed.

What should I expect during the first meeting/evaluation?
How long does a typical therapy session last?
How long does a typical initial evaluation session last?

Standard therapy sessions typically run for 30 to 45 minutes depending on the child's individual needs. 60 minute sessions are available for older children. However, service delivery will be recommended/determined at the time of the evaluation and in combination with the family.

Evaluation sessions can run for 1 to 2 hours, depending on the child's individual needs. However, I always book them in 2 hour blocks. If there was a recent speech/language evaluation completed, a more focused evaluation can be completed to obtain current baseline and other areas that may need review.

I am based in Sturbridge, MA, for in-person visits, but proudly serve the Central MA areas, including Charlton, Dudley, Auburn, Brookfield, East Brookfield, North Brookfield, West Brookfield, Monson, and Brimfield.   "My son has been working with Alyssa since the fall of last year, and the progress he has made in his communication skills has been remarkable. From the very beginning, Alyssa has been dedicated, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in his success. We were so pleased with the care and support she provided that we chose to continue working with her after her move from Millbury to Sturbridge. The improvements we are seeing in our son’s communication are significant, and we credit much of that progress to Alyssa’s expertise and individualized approach. Alyssa consistently provides my husband and me with practical strategies and tools to use at home, which has helped reinforce our son’s growth outside of therapy sessions. She is professional, compassionate, and extremely easy to work with. One of the best indicators of the positive relationship she has built with our son is how excited he is to see her—he practically runs through the door when we arrive for his appointments. We are excited to see his continued progress and are incredibly grateful to have Alyssa as his speech-language pathologist. We highly recommend her to any family seeking exceptional speech therapy services." - Current Client
